Welcome to the Bears That Care Charity Online Show website.

The original “Bears That Care” Charity Auction began in the late 90’s and was established for the benefit of research, education and awareness of women’s gynaecological cancers.  After some years in hibernation, the bears returned  in 2010 to support the ongoing work of the Ovcare research team lead by Professor Greg Rice.

In 2012, in keeping with current shopping trends, the 2012 Bears That Care event evolved into an online show - the proceeds from the bears sold online going to the ovarian cancer research programs being conducted by Prof Rice and his team.
Why we do it
  • Ovarian cancer is the most lethal of all gynaecological cancers
  • 230,000 women worldwide will be diagnosed with this disease
  • ONE out of every TWO women who develop this disease will not survive
  • Unlike breast and cervical cancers, there is NO screening test for the early detection of ovarian cancer

We are passionate about changing these devastating statistics and ensuring that the risk to future generations is greatly reduced through the introduction of new tests for the early detection of ovarian cancer.  Working together we can turn tragedy into triumph and help save lives!

Ovcare is an an ovarian cancer research, education and awareness program established in 2000 in partnership with Jigsaw and the Research Team.  The Ovcare Research Team conducts its ovarian cancer research and test development programs under the direction of Prof Greg Rice.

Early Detection Ltd - formerly the National Centre for Health Innovation Limited (NCHI) is a not-for-profit

organisation established to promote and deliver improvements in community health, and supports the effective translation of research into tangible outcomes (new tests for earlier diagnosis of disease) for you and your family.   A current priority of Early Detection Ltd is women’s health, particularly reproductive health and complications of pregnancy.  We invite you to partner with us in our endeavours in these critical areas of women’s health, and make a donation to ensure this work continues to progress.  Together we are making a difference!
